Before calling to book an appointment, please check with your referring doctor that a valid referral has been sent to our rooms (not the public hospital).  All pages of the referral should be sent.

If you are an existing patient, please check if your referral is still valid.  Valid for 12 months from your first appointment if issued by a GP or Dentist.  Valid for 3 months only if issued by a Specialist or Hospital.

If you do not have a valid referral at the time of the appointment, the full account will be payable on the day.

Make sure your referral has been sent

Referrals

Please check with your referrer that your referral sent to Dr Anderson has a clear explanation of your ENT condition, symptomatology and medical history to enable appropriate triage of your referral.  A referral stating ‘thank you for seeing Miss Smith” is not acceptable.

Triage of referral

Dr Anderson will review your referral and this takes 7-10 business days.  He will instruct staff the type of appointment to book and the urgency of the referral. Our staff will call you directly to book an appointment.  If you have not heard from us after two weeks, please call our rooms.

Appointment

If you have any audiograms, vestibular testing, CT or MRI Scans, X-rays or any other medical reports that may assist Dr Anderson, please arrange for these to be accessed our practice.

If your referrer has requested you have a hearing test, MRI scan/CT scan or vestibular testing prior to your appointment, please ensure the results are sent to NQENT prior to your appointment or to avoid a second consultation with Dr Anderson.

You must bring your own travel subsidy form to your consultation for Dr Anderson to sign, we cannot provide this for you.

Appointment confirmation

You will be notified once via text message to confirm your appointment. All appointments must be confirmed via text message 5-7 days prior to the day of the consultation. If you do not confirm, your appointment will be cancelled immediately.

Failure to attend your appointment will result in your referral being handed back to your GP or referrer.

Referral Handback

There is a drastic shortage of ENT specialists in our region. Unfortunately, at times when wait lists are long Dr Anderson cannot see patients within a clinically appropriate timeframe and unable to provide adequate care and your referral is handed back to the referrer to continue your care. Dr Anderson now limits his involvement to patients within his sub-specialty of paediatric ENT and complex otology and from outside of his catchment area. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.
